GUEST LECTURERS REPRESENTING THE UNIVERSITY OF MALTA

TIMMY GAMBIN is an Associate Professor of Maritime Archaeology in the Department of Classics and Archaeology, University of Malta, from where he obtained a B.A. in History. Following his undergraduate studies, he attained an M.A. in Maritime Archaeology and History at the University of Bristol, where he continued his postgraduate studies by reading for a doctorate in Maritime Archaeology. In 2001, he joined the Department as a visiting lecturer and took up a full-time post as Senior Lecturer in the spring of 2012. Professor Gambin was involved in the discovery and documentation of the Roman wreck of Ustica and the Phoenician Shipwreck off the island of Gozo (Malta) - datable to 700BC. He is passionate about WWII history - especially in the growing field of aviation archaeology underwater.

JOHN WOOD is a University of Malta graduate with more than 40 years of experience in the Information Technology field. He is an avid diver for 23 years and a technical rebreather diver since 2015. Since 2017 John has provided consultancy services for the University of Malta Underwater Archaeology team, providing the skills and techniques in underwater 3D photogrammetry necessary for public outreach and the technical documentation of excavations on underwater heritage sites.
