“For thousands of years, seafarers have navigated Gulf waters for sustenance, resource exploitation, migration, trade, conquest, defense, and exploration. Until the mid-20th century, the people of Kuwait engaged in shipbuilding and pearling and traded by dhow with other ports in the Gulf and the Indian Ocean beyond. My MA documentary film project, “Underwater Cultural Heritage in Kuwait: Out of sight, out of mind?” explores the situation of maritime archaeology in Kuwait through the perspectives of heritage, education, tourism, and science & industry.”
